It’s that time of year when a young man’s (and young woman’s) fancy turns to… diving! Yup, the ice is out and the air is getting warmer each day. Those – as surely as a robin’s call – mean spring is here and it’s time to think about open water training dives.
I am scheduling training dives for the Open Water Diver course on the weekends of May 9 & 10, May 16 & 17 and May 23 & 24 at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, Illinois. I will also be offering an Advanced Open Water class at Haigh Quarry on Memorial Day Sunday and Monday, May 24 & 25. Let me know if you are interested in this course.
Haigh Quarry is an excellent training site. It is a very pretty park-like setting with lots of things to see during your dives. There is a $20/day entry fee. The entry fees as well as transportation and lodging are your responsibility. I will be staying at the Lees Inn in Kankakee for the Haigh Quarry weekends. You can get reduced rates if you tell them you are with Haigh Quarry. There is a list of other nearby accommodations on the Haigh Quarry website - www.haighquarry.com.
There will be a limited number of spots for each weekend. Please let me know as soon as you can when you’d like to do your dives.
For those of you are already certified, feel free to join us one of those weekends if you’d like to refresh your skills or just plain get wet.
