Subject: January in Paradise

Hi gang!

How would you like to miss the fiercest weather – the nasty below zero temperatures, snowdrifts to your… waist, wind chills well below anything suitable for human existence? How would you like to spend those same days on a beautiful island paradise, surrounded by white sand and blue (yes, BLUE) water? How would you like to wake up each morning to the sound of surf and the smell of fresh sea air? Can you say “warm sun?”

Where does one find the crystal clear waters and magnificent walls? Where does one see seascapes that rival those seen in National Geographic or Sport Diver? Where are dives with stingrays guaranteed – yes, GUARANTEED? The answer to all of these questions is the same – Grand Cayman! Grand Cayman has some of the clearest water and prettiest walls to be found in the Caribbean. And we are going there in January!

We will be leaving O’Hare Airport the morning of January 3rd for a week of sun and fun. We’ll stay in apartments and condos on Grand Cayman’s South Sound with a small secluded beach in front of our resort. We’ll dive some of the best that Grand Cayman has to offer, tour the island in our rental cars and pretty much just enjoy being away during some of the worst winter weather that Iowa has to offer. We’ll head out late the afternoon of January 10th, overnight in Atlanta and come back into Chicago Sunday morning, January 11th.

The cost of the trip includes round trip airfare from O’Hare, accommodations during the week (including the stay in Atlanta), a good mix of boat and shore diving on some truly wonderful dive sites, a trip to Stingray City (!), share of a rental car and basic equipment rental for the week. Transportation to and from Chicago and any overnight accommodations before or after the trip are your responsibility. The trip cost is $1,650 per person, based on current airfares.

Space is limited on this trip. This is the high season on Grand Cayman, and lodging and seats on the airlines are starting to be in short supply. To reserve your spot, I will need a non-refundable deposit of $600 to purchase your airline ticket. If airfares go up between now and the time you reserve your spot, the price will increase accordingly, but I will let you know the new price before I commit you by buying your ticket. The balance will be due on December 3rd, one month before the trip.

In addition, reduced prices are available on PADI classes during the trip. For example, Advanced Open Water, normally priced at $161.74, is being offered on this trip for half price – only $80.87!

Please let me know as soon as you can if you are planning to join us. Rooms and air need to be locked in soon.

I hope you all are able to come along and start off 2009 with a trip to remember!

Jim
