Summer is in full swing and we have training dive opportunities (for those of you who have yet to complete them) and what promises to be a fun and exciting trip to Key Largo, Florida!
First off, I will be offering training dives two weekends in July. On July 14th & 15th, I will be at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, Illinois. This would be a great chance to do Open Water, Advanced Open Water or Nitrox dives at one of the midwest’s prettiest fresh water dive spots. This will also be the weekend of Haigh Quarry’s Jim Haigh memorial Dive/Customer Appreciation Day (Sunday) with prizes, raffles, music and HALF PRICE ENTRY! Motel rooms in the area are going fast, so if you want to do some training dives or just come out and enjoy some pretty dives and a great time, book your rooms now!
On July 21st & 22nd, we’ll be back at Cedar Valley Quarry for Open Water dives. While it may not have the fun and excitement of Haigh Quarry, it is close and free. For those of you who have still not completed your Open Water certification dives, this is another opportunity to “get ‘er dun!” Spaces will fill on a first come, first served basis so let me know if you’re planning to joinj me the weekend of the 21st and 22nd.
Next – drum roll here – August will bring warm, clear, salt water diving in the Florida Keys! August 11th – 18th will bring us to Key Largo, Florida. Key Largo is noted for some of the best diving off the Florida Atlantic coast in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Pennekamp is the nation’s oldest marine park and boasts beautiful coral reefs teeming with fantastic marine life. Warm sun, warm water and warm friendships await! Details are still being finalized, but the total trip cost will be less than $1,400/person double occupancy and will include airfare from Moline or Cedar Rapids, 6 two-tank day charters and one night dive with Ocean Divers, lodging, share of a rental van, dive gear and more! Special pricing is available for non-divers as well. This trip will fill up fast. I will be asking for deposits in early July, so clear your schedules and plan to come along for some great fun!
