The first summer Gathering dive of 2006 is being planned for June 17th at Glennies Pond (Millers Quarry) in Cedar Falls. Keith Neuzil is organizing the event. Miller’s Quarry is a privately owned dive site near the Waterloo airport. The visibility is usually very good (20 – 25 feet). It is not terribly deep – 20 feet – but there is a lot of plant growth and fish, turtles and things to see. Diving is managed by Scuba Too (6322 University Avenue, Cedar Falls). The entry fee is $10 and a release must be signed and on file at the dive shop before you go. You will need to bring your c-card with you. Attached is a copy of the liability release that will need to be completed. You can save time signing in if you print and complete this before you come up (one per diver, please).
We will meet at Scuba Too at 10:00 Saturday morning (the dive shop is in Holiday Plaza, on the north side of University). After signing in, we’ll head out to the quarry. Plan to do a dive, have some lunch, do another dive… and just soak up some sunshine and friendship with your fellow dive buddies. Burgers and brats will be provided for lunch. Please plan to bring something to share for a side.

July 16th is the date for the 2006 Jim Haigh Memorial Dive at Haigh Quarry, Kankakee, Illinois. This event is always a lot of fun, with live music, good food, door prizes and a lot of great diving. Proceeds from the day will be donated to the DAN Recompression Chamber Fund. Please contact me or check out the Haigh Quarry website at www.haighquarry.com for more information.
Rich Prochaska is organizing a trip to Coco View Resort in Roatan next January. Rooms are reserved for the week of January 13 – 20, 2007. The cost will be $984.84 per person dbl occupancy plus airfare (please plan to arrange your own airfare). Rich has four rooms booked and would like to find up to seven more divers. This will be his 4th time to CoCo View and he (as well as many others of us who have gone) has had a good time every time.
